Schneider, August Charles (2 Aug. 1907 - ? May 1946)

The body of August C. Schneider, 39, of Wisconsin Rapids, who had been missing since May 21, was found last Saturday in his automobile which was parked in a wasteland area in the Town of Plover, Portage County.

The coroner ruled the death as suicide. Schneider had attached a hose to the exhaust of his car and ran the deadly carbon monoxide fumes into his coupe, in which all the windows were closed.

The badly decomposed body was found by a party of squirrel hunters Saturday afternoon.

August Charles Schneider, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schneider, was born August 2, 1907 in the Town of Eau Pleine. He was married to Mabel Cecelia Erickson on June 19, 1935.

They lived on a farm in the Town of Unity for awhile, then moved to Riplinger and about two years ago they moved to Wisconsin Rapids, where he lived at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his demise his wife Mabel and daughter Joyce Ann, his father, three brothers, Edward of Pewaukee; Albert and Theodore of Stratford; and one sister, Agnes. His mother and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday with private services at the grave conducted by Rev. Ferguson of the Unity Methodist Church. Burial took place in Brighton cemetery.

Pallbearers were Andrew Jost, Arvid Talcott, Peter Jost, Walter Beidel, Albert Reckner and Edmund Fuller.
