He farmed in the town of Bethel most of his life and did carpentry work. He was known for his flower gardens and plowing gardens in the Mosinee area. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Moon and sang with the Wausau Senior Choir for sixteen years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion; five brothers and four sisters.

*Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Two Sisters Chapel, Moon. The Rev. David Guerrero will oficiate. Burial will be in Moon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.*

NOTE: I have been receiving Christmas cards for years from Philo. I didn't receive one this past Christmas, so I thought maybe he wasn't in the best of health. His penmanship was not shakey when he was 103.
