Leila Jean Koncel

Leila Jean Koncel, 81, Dorchester, died Sunday, February 4th, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unity.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007, at Maurina funeral Home, Dorchester, Wis. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Jerome Friemuth will preside. Pallbearers will be Kevin and Alan Bunkelman, Cathy Hansen, Kenneth, Amanda and Michael Koncel.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given in her name to the Colby Rural Arts Museum Depot Restoration Fund.

Leila was born December 26, 1925, in Lomira to Oscar and Hazel (Bayer) Case. She moved with her parents to farm near Colby in 1932. She graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in 1944, and attended Taylor County Normal School in Medford.

In September of 1946, Leila and William Koncel were married in Medford.

Leila enjoyed reading, singing, sending cards and letters, attending various festivals, quilt shows, farm life, especially caring for the animals, and spending time with family and friends.

Leila is survived by her husband, William of Dorchester; her daughter, Mary (Richard) Bunkelman of Colby; a daughter-in-law, Debra Koncel of Dorchester; her grandchildren, Kevin and Alan Bunkelman of Colby, Cathy (Lee) Hansen of two Rivers, Ken (Pam) Koncel of Colby, Amanda Koncel of Medford and Michael Koncel of Dorchester; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emilia Hansen, and Kassidy Koncel; one sister, Janet Case of Almond; and one brother, Kenneth Case of Little Rock, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Anthony; and one brother, Melvin.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.
