Alfred T. Johnsrud, 88, Spencer, died on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007. The Lord gently took Alfred Johnsrud’s hand to take him to his eternal home. He left his earthly home while a resident at the Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 5, ay 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. Karl Rose officiated. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with grandsons Rick Woodkey, Jon Woodkey, D. J. Woodkey, Randy Mess, Brian Johnsrud, Josh Johnsrud, and Aaron Poncheck serving as pallbearers.

Alfred T. Johnsrud was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Auburndale, to Knute and Thea (nee Hanson) Johnsrud. He received his education in Arpin. On Dec. 22, 1972, he married Lillian Woodkey at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, where he served as a trustee for three years. He retired from working for Weir Oil Company, Marshfield. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going up north in the summer. While at home, he spent his time mowing lawn, gardening, and feeding the many varieties of birds that seemed to enjoy his backyard efforts. He was a lover of dogs and he and "Pup" spent many hours enjoying each other’s company. He will be sadly missed by all, but especially "Pup."

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Lillian (nee Woodkey) Johnsrud, Spencer; a son, Michael (Arlene) Johnsrud, Marshfield; three stepchildren, Jean (George) Mess, Spencer, Ted (Darlene) Woodkey, Spencer, and Dennis (Ellen) Woodkey, Spencer; nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers; two sisters; his only daughter, Saron Shelly, who is dearly missed; and a granddaughter, Laura Johnsrud.

Memorials in his name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer.
