Ormond, Mathilda Marie (16 March 1870 - 5 July 1941)

On July 5, 1941, Mrs. Mathilda Marie Ormond passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. H. Zilisch, Neillsville, after seven weeks of illness with a heart ailment. She was 71 years, three months and seventeen days of age.

Funeral services were held at two p.m. Monday at the Jaster Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The body was interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Ormond was born March 16, 1870, to John and Amelia (Kluenner) Offerman in the Town of Herman, Dodge County, Wis. She came to Clark County forty-six years ago.

On November 22, 1888, she was united in marriage to William M. Ormond at Milwaukee. Twelve children were born to this union, two of whom, Florence and Rosie preceded her in death. The surviving children are: Jesse, Mrs. M. H. Zilisch, Neillsville; George, Kansas City, Kan.; Esther, Mrs. Robert Welsh, Waunakee, Wis.; Douglas, Globe; Oliver, at home; Charles at East Randolf, N. Y.; Mary, Mrs. George Elmer, Neillsville; Eva, Mrs. John Vale, Mendota; William, Milwaukee, and John, Greenwood.

Also surviving are ?8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers: Joseph and John Offerman, Beaver Dam; Otto of Fox Lake and Charles Offerman of Cambria; six sisters: Mrs. Clara Harms and Mrs. Minnie Henderson, Freemont, Mich.; Mrs. Ida Indermuhle and Mrs. Elsa Schmidt, Horicon; Cecelia Schliecker of Hartford and Mrs. Jennie Sliegh, Beloit.

Mrs. Ormond was a loyal friend and helpful neighbor who won the love and respect of younger people as well as the older ones of her acquaintance. With her passing, she leaves a place in the hearts of her friends and all the members of the family that no one else shall ever fill.

The pallbearers were selected among her old neighbors, northwest of Neilslville, namely: Herman Schoenherr, Ted Mitt, Clarence Henchen and Ben Bodwin.

Those who attended the funeral from distant cities were: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Offerman, Fox Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Offerman, Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Offerman, Cambria; Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Schliecker, Hartford; Mrs. Ed. Schmidt, Horicon; Mrs. Erwin Bartell, Ripon; Mr. and Mrs. James Pope, Waukesha, and Arthur Sohre, Hartford.
