Malamphy, Edward (1888 - 3 June 1941)

Dan and Miss Nellie Malamphy received a message Wednesday morning announcing the death of their brother, Edward, Tuesday evening at Loretta, Wis. The message stated that he was struck by a car and passed away a short time later in a hospital.

The brother and sister went to Loretta Wednesday afternoon to make arrangements for the funeral.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of Dan and Nellie Malamphy at 2 p.m. Saturday for their brother, Edward, who was killed earlier in the week when he was struck by a care near Draper, Wis., while walking on the highway. A companion, Gilbert Paxon, who was with Mr. Malamphy, also was killed Rev. Obed Asp conducted the services, interment being made in the Neillsville Cemetery, where a firing squad of Legionnaires took part in the rites, John M. Peterson, Joseph Zimmer, A. H. Russell, August Selk, Frank B??wn, and Robert Boness, all ex-service man, acted as pallbearers.

Mr. Malamphy was born at Valley Juncetion on July 25, 1888, the son of Patrick and Mary Malamphy. He came to Neillsville with his parents when he was eight years of age and was education in the Neillsville schools. He served with the 70th Engineers corps during the World War being honorably discharged for disability when his company started overseas. Upon his returned to Wisconsin, he went to Loretta, where he had since made his home. He was unmarried.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel, and sister, Nellie ?? dents of this city.

In attendance at the funeral from distant places were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Finn, Minneapolis, Claire Finn and Nora Clark, Elroy.
