Papenfuss, William August (22 Aug. 1892 - 3 April 1941)

William August Papenfuss, passed away at his farm home in the town of Dewhurst on Thursday, April 3, 1941, after a long illness with cancer of the jaw and face. Although the afflictions cause him much suffering, he continued to manage his farm until but recently. For the past several months, Mr. Papenfuss bravely prepared himself and his business affairs for the end, which he realized was certain. He was a hard-working man, kindly and gentle in his home and strictly honest and fair with his neighbors, friends and business associates.

The departed was born August 22, 1892, in Homer Township, Winona County, Minnesota to Albert and Mathilda Papenfuss, natives of Pomerania, Germany.

He was married March 1, 1914, to Miss Bernice Clow, at Winona, Minn. They were the parents of nine children, a daughter, Annabel, passing away March 26, 1935, at the age of 13. Mrs. Papenfuss and the following children survive: James and Alicia, Mrs. Gerhard Schroeder, Dakota, Minn.; Eunice, Mrs. Lloyd Buettner, Neillsville; Marion Lewis, Carleton, Rachel, Allyne and Lawrence, at home. He also leaves his aged father, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Elmer Vosse and Mrs. Robert Verkins, Minneapolis; Herman Papenfuss, La Moille, Minn.; and Louis Papenfuss, Dakota Valley, Minn.

Funeral services were held from the farm home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 1:30 that afternoon at the M. E. Church at Dakota, Minn.
