Peterson, Ella C. (15 NOV 1862 - 16 FEB 1937)

Funeral services for Ella Christina Peterson, who died at her home north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1937, were held at the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 18, at 2 o’clock. Rev. Siggelkow officiated. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Ella Christina Johnson was born in the province of Smalan, Sweden on Nov. 15, 1862. In 1891 she came to this country and on Oct. 16, 1895, was united in marriage to Charles Peterson at Rock Island, Ill. They took up their home life on a farm in the vicinity of Sherard, Ill., where they lived for 14 years. Here four sons were born to the union, one, Oscar, dying in infancy. In 1909 they moved to Wisconsin, making their new home on a farm east of Owen, where they remained until 1920 when they moved to their present home on a farm a few miles north of Withee.

Mrs. Peterson had been in poor health for a number of years, death relieving her suffering on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, three sons, Roy of Abbotsford, Swan of Owen, and Walter, who lives at home. Also one sister, Mrs. Carl Beck of Owen, three grandchildren, five nieces and two nephews.

Mrs. Peterson was a kind mother and her absence from the family will be deeply felt by not only her immediate family but by all who knew her.
