Anderson, John P. (6 FEB 1852 - 23 JAN 1937)

Funeral services for John P. Anderson, former resident of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Seymour Kalm, at Moose Lake, Minn., were held at Balsam Lake, Tuesday, Jan. 26. Interment was made at the cemetery at that place. Mr. Anderson died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1937, at the age of 85.

John P. Anderson was born Feb. 6, 1852, at Springfield, Ohio. On Nov. 16, 1880, he was united in marriage to Lizzie Clark at Balsam Lake, and to this union, were born nine children, seven of which survive him. His wife preceded him in death. He leaves the following children to mourn his loss: Mrs. John Gaffrey, Turtle Lake; Mrs. Fred Kalm and Mrs. S.H. Wellman of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Seymour Kalm, Moose Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Frank Crye of Owen, and Claude and John of West Duluth, Minn.; also 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

From 1908 until 1919 Mr. Anderson made his home on a farm near Owen, serving as president of the council for three terms and also president of the Commercial Club. He was a member of the school board for several years. In addition to working his farm he was employed by the village of Owen as water and street commissioner.
