Beyer, Vivian (Marriage - 19 Sept. 1940)

The Pine Valley Lutheran Church was the scene of a pretty autumn wedding at eight p.m. Thursday, September 19, when Miss Vivian Beyer became the bride of Ernest Horhled, Rev. J. G. Buth of Granton performing the double ring ceremony. The church was beautifully decorated with pine boughs, swainsona and peach colored and white gladioli, with a lighted candle at either side of the altar. The decorations were artistically arranged by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Paul Thoma of New Mexico.

As the bridal party neared the edifice, the church bell pearled forth the happy event. Mrs. Buth preceded the ceremony with instrumental music, followed by a song, "I Love You Truly," sung by Misses Rita Wittrock and Lydia Buth. After the soft strains of a wedding march, the girls sang "To Thee, Our Father’s God, We Bow." The ushers let the wedding party down the aisle and took their places facing one another, at either side of the pews, followed by the bride’s attendants and the bride upon the arm of her father. The pastor and the groom and his attendants awaited at the altar before two huge baskets of flowers.

The bride was dressed in white frosted satin with a finger tip veil and carried a bouquet of Easter lilies and white roses. Her attendants, Miss Alma Beyer and Miss Erna Horeheld, added much to the beauty of the scene with their lovely gowns and flowers. Romuald Schmidt and Irvin Thoma attended the groom. A reception in the church hall followed the service with a cafeteria supper, served at the home of the bride’s parents to the wedding party and to immediate relatives.

Mrs. Horehled was graduated from the Neillsville high school. She had been employed in the soil conservation office of this city for some time. Mr. Horehled is a young farmer, working for his father in the town of Washburn. The couple will live in a house near his home farm, where they will began housekeeping the later part of the month after a wedding trip to Chicago, where they are visiting relatives and friends.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thoma and daughter, Pauline, of New Mexico, and Melvin Mech, Greenwood.
