Timm, Ernest Walter (August 26, 1919 - January 20, 2007)

Ernest W. Timm, age 87, of Thorp, died on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Daniel Welch will officiate and burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Ernest Walter Timm was born on August 26, 1919 in the Town of Luddington, Eau Claire County, WI to August and Edna (Sapp) Timm. He was raised and received his education in the Augusta and Gilman areas. Ernie was inducted in the U. S. Army on January 17, 1941 and served overseas until his discharge on October 27, 1945. He moved to Ely, MN in the early 1950’s and worked as a logger. On December 23, 1952, Ernie was united in marriage to Delilah E. Meyer in Ely, MN. In 1967, they moved to Gilman and Ernie went to work for National Presto, in Eau Claire, for three years. He then worked for the Soo Line railroad until his retirement. After retiring, Ernie enjoyed woodworking and gardening. His wife, Delilah, died on December 27, 2006. He was a member of the Western Taylor County American Legion Post #359 in Gilman.

He is survived by six sons: Colin (Barbara) of Saginaw, MI, Robert (Diane) of Norman, OK, Rodney and Francis of Minneapolis, MN, Keith (Monica) of Marshfield, WI, and Ken (Cindy) of Delafield, WI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Hougstrom of Duluth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Delilah.
