50th Church Anniversary Is Celebrated

Neillsville--The 50th anniversary of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, celebrated Sunday, drew a large attendance with many persons unable to find standing room at the morning worship service.

The services were conducted by former pastors of the church, the Revs. Herman Schmidt, Caleb Hauser, Ben Stucki, and William Bixler. The present pastor is the Rev. William F. Koehler. A charter member of the church still living is Fred Stelloh, Neillsville, Wis. He was present for the services Sunday, as were Mrs. William Martens and Mr. and Mrs. William Zank, Town of Pine Valley. Mrs. Martens and Mr. and Mrs. Zank were members of the Prince of Peace Church, the early name of the Zion Church.

Approximately 350 guests were present for the dinner served between 12 noon and 1:45 p.m. in the basement rooms of the church. About 200 persons attended the afternoon worship services. Members of the Evangelical and Reformed Churches located at Humbird, Greenwood and Stratford were present and assisted in the celebration.
