Decker, Raymond (3 Nov. 1913 - 11 Jan. 2007)

COLBY -- Raymond Decker, 93, of Colby, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. Monsignor John Malik will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with full military rites by Colby VFW Post 2227. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, Wis. There will be a VFW service at 7 p.m. and a combined parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Ray was born Nov. 3, 1913, near Dorchester to Nick and Emma Decker. Ray and Caroline Kramer were married Nov. 19, 1938, in Dorchester, Wis. She died Jan. 11, 1985. Ray served his country in the U.S. Army from July 24, 1944, to Jan. 25, 1946, in the European Theatre. He worked for Hub City Foods in Marshfield and hauled milk for Mandel Cheese Factory in Unity. Ray also worked on Edblom's farm in Unity. They moved to Colby in 1953 where he worked for Packaging Corporation until his retirement. He moved to the Angelus Retirement Community in 2002 and to Continental Manor in September 2006.

Ray was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Colby VFW Post 2227.

Ray is survived by his children, Pat (Jim) Baumgartner of Colby, and Larry (Diane) Decker of Colby; his grandchildren, Brian (Peg) Baumgartner, Brad (Marguerite) Baumgartner, Kevin (Gail) Baumgartner, Kirk (Lena) Baumgartner, Keith (Katie) Baumgartner, Rick Mueller, Randy (Jodi Bammert) Mueller, Kim (Kent) Decker Frome and Kris (C.J.) Decker Hall; 20 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence Decker of California.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Barbara Mueller on Dec. 29, 2002; one granddaughter; four brothers and five sisters.
