Yaniga, Mary (17 JUN 1868 - 25 AUG 1945)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Mrs. Martin Yaniga, 77, a former resident of Greenwood, died at 6:30 o’clock Saturday evening (Aug. 25, 1945) at her home at Loyal. She had been ill for a week and suffered a stroke last Thursday.

Mrs. Yaniga, the former Mary Stefan, was born in Bohemia June 17, 1868. She lived 1 ½ miles northwest of Greenwood for many years, but lived at Loyal since retiring in May 1944. She was a member of West Side Reformed Church and its Ladies Aid Society for many eyars.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Henry Vollrath, Greenwood; a son, A.E. Preller, Abbotsford; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body is lying in state at the Yaniga home, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. At 2 o’clock another service will be held at West Side Reformed Church, Greenwood, the Rev. J.C. Klingeberger officiating, and burial will be made in West Side Cemetery.

(Follow on) Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Yaniga, 77, who died Aug. 25, 1945 at her home in Loyal, were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:15 o’clock at the Yaniga home in Loyal and at 2 o’clock at West Side Reformed Church. The Rev. J.C. Klingeberger officiated, and interment was made in West Side Cemetery.

During the services, several selections were sung by the senior choir.

Pallbearers were George and Theodore Humke, Ferdinand Decker, William Goeke, Alvin Princ, Greenwood, and Fred Kuester, Loyal. Flowers were carried by Mrs. Henry Meyer and Mrs. Fred Kuester, Loyal, and Mrs. William Goeke and Mrs. Philip Vollrath, Greenwood.

People from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Bauer and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Preller, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Preller and son, Richard, and daughter, Ann, Abbotsford; Mrs. Ernest Matson, Medford; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kuester, Mrs. George Schoch, Mrs. Scheckelman, Mrs. Anne Betzel, Mrs. Susan Wedel, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer, and Mrs. George Schillenger, all of Loyal.
