Bernice Janikowski

Bernice Janikowski, 80, formerly of Milan, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at the Northside Elder Estates, Stratford, under the car of Ministry Home Hospice.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan 4, at St. Thomas Catholic, Church, Milan. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bernice was born April 27, 1926, in the Town of Rietbrock, the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Mary (Brojeski) Belter.

On April 19, 1947, she married Walter Janikowski in Athens. Walter preceded her in death on February 27, 1989.

Bernice and Walter owned and operated Wally and Bernie’s Milan Bar for many years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by tow sisters, Irene Makarawicz and Martha Matysik; and eight brothers, George, Leo, Edward, John, Bernard, Ervin, Joe and Frank Belter.
