Dollasse, William Otto August (26 Jan. 1855 - 16 May 1940)

William Otto August Dollasse of the town of Weston passed away at his home there May 16, 1940, after a lingering illness. He had attained the age of 85 years, three months and 20 days. He was born in Germany January 26, 1855, and grew to manhood in his native country. At the age of 29 he came to America and found employment as a bricklayer at Watertown, Wis.

December 16, 1888, Mr. Dollasse was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Strelov of Watertown, the couple making their home there for 20 years. They also lived for a time at Fort Atkinson before coming to Neillsville in 1909 to take up farming. They lived on several farms in Clark County before purchasing their present home in Weston Township.

Mr. Dollasse was the father of seven children. Two sons and five daughters; two daughters preceding him in death. On December 16, 1938, the aged couple celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary surrounded by their children, grandchildren and friends. They shared life’s journey for 51 years and five months. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Edward and William, Jr., of Neillsville; Mrs. Harry Kelsey, St. Paul; Esther, Mrs. Arnold Dudei, and Hilda, Mrs. Elgar King, both of Neillsville, Wis. Eleven grandchildren also survive.

Funeral were held from the home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and from the Globe Lutheran church at three o’clock, Rev. William A. Baumann officiating in absence of the Rev. Adolph Schulmann. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: Ben Bodwin, Leonard Schulz, Roland Kalsow, Edward Kalsow, Ted Mitt and Paul Hagedorn.

Prock, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. John Kronberger and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bardel, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Garbush, Mr. and Mrs. E. Noeldner, Mr. and Mrs. John Gates and daughter, all of Loyal; and Mrs. Adolph Ambrose, Janesville.

Mrs. Adolph Ambrose is my Great Grandmother whom I have long since tried to learn more about. My Great Grandfather was Adolph whom had son Russell and subsequently my father Robert and then me.

I have no connections with this family line. I just happened to transcribe this article on the Dollasse line.
