Johnson, Adel V. (14 JUL 1945)

Miss Adel V. Johnson of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Johnson, became the bride of Dale W. Horn, son of Mrs. Caroline Horn, Greenwood, in a nuptial ceremony read July 14, 1945, at 2:30 o’clock in the Zion Reformed Church at Greenwood by B.M. Fresenborg.

Mrs. Herbert Schwarze played the wedding marches and the accompaniment for Norman Erickson, who sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly."

For her wedding, the bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin formal frock designed with a snug bodice and long tight sleeves. The net overskirt extended into a long court train. Her full length veil of illusion was inserted with lace and caught to a tiara of beads. She carried white gladioli and roses.

Miss Jane Banks, as maid of honor, wore pink lace and net dress and matching headband and carried a colonial bouquet of white asters and pink carnations. Miss Norma Breitlow, in a similar costume in blue, was bridesmaid. Clarence Meinhardt, U.S. Air Forces and Erland Johnson attended the groom. Billy Lee Horn, a nephew of the groom, carried the wedding rings on a white satin pillow and Joyce Johnson, a niece of the groom, in a white floor length dress and carrying a basket of flowers, was flower girl.

Covers were laid for 50 guests at the Johnson home decorated with red and blue streamers centered with a white wedding bell, where supper was served after the ceremony. A three-tier wedding cake centered the table. In the evening a dance was held at Jackson’s Merry Ol’ Gardens.

Now that they have returned from a brief honeymoon they are residing with the groom’s mother on the Horn farm south of Greenwood.

The bride was graduated from the Owen High School and has been employed in war work in Waukesha.

Guests included Mrs. Harold Banks, Mrs. John R. Thompson, Arnold Johnson, Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schneider and family, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterson, Marengo; Mrs. Erik Carlson and son, Donald, Woodstock, Ill.; Mrs. Peder Danielson, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Elmer Johnson and family, DeKalb, Ill.; Melvin and William Gosse, Abbotsford, Wis.
