Susa, Susan (31 DEC 1863 - 15 FEB 1942)

A Requiem High Mass was read Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) for Mrs. Joseph Susa, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reinholt Pieper, at Loyal, following a several weeks’ illness.

The Rev. J.J. Novak officiated, and interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery at Greenwood. Pallbearers were Charles Ludwig, Louis Weber, Joseph Kohlnhofer, Lawrence Kitzhaber, Edward Hinker and William McKenne.

Mrs. Susa, nee Susan Weisenberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Weisenberger, was born in Harrison County, Indiana, Dec. 31, 1863, and moved with her parents to Buffalo County when she was three years old.

Her marriage to Joseph Susa took place May 4, 1886, at Waumandee and the Susas lived there until 1895, when they came to the Town of Eaton, residing on a farm southwest of Greenwood until 1936. Since that time they had been residing in the city of Greenwood. Mr. Susa died July 19, 1932, and Mrs. Susa lived here until about two years ago when she left to make her home with her daughter Sophie, Mrs. Reinholt Pieper, at Loyal.

Surviving relatives include four sons, Joseph, John and Paul of the Town of Eaton, and Albert of Clam Lake; tow daughters, Mrs. Ben (Harriet) Bodwin, Globe, and Mrs. Reinholt (Sophie) Pieper, Loyal; five sisters, Mrs. Dena Fink, Dane; Mrs. Rose Heritage, Eau Claire; Mrs. Anna Gross, Amery; Mrs. Leona Clark, British Columbia; and Mrs. Cecelia Walsworth, Washington; one brother, Joseph Weisenberger, British Columbia; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her parents, two sisters, and a brother preceded her in death.
