Happe, Charles (13 Feb. 1854 - *6 March 1940) *could be off.

Charles Happe, 86, resident of Chili for about ten years, passed away last Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Lindow, in the town of Fremont. He had been ill for eleven months.

Mr. Happe was born in New York City February 13, 1854, to Mr. and Mrs. August Happe. When he was a small boy the family moved to Cooperstown, Brown County. He was married to Mary Pamperin of Lomira in 1878. On March 11, 1892, Mrs. Happe passed away and six years later, on the first of September, he was married to Bertha Krug, who passed away February 11, 1932. From 1900 to 1930 Mr. Happe lived on a farm in the town of Fremont.

He is survived by three sons: Carl F. Happe, Osseo; Rev. A. E. Happe, Batavia; and Arthur H. Happe, Ripon; and two daughters, Lucinda, Mrs. Charles Lindow, and Mrs. Ermine Bandt, both of the town of Fremont; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and one brother, William R. Happe, Chili. Two sons preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at Immanuel Evangelical church, Chili, at one p.m. Saturday, Rev. E. P. Manley officiating.

Pallbearers were Luther and Albert Lindow; E. W. Lee, Edward Ott, Henry Nebel and Arthur Lindow, Lester and Marlin Lindow, ushers, had charge of the flowers. Rev. Raymond Hansen of Augusta and Miss Leona Marks of Neillsville sang three duets, Rev. Hansen also singing a solo.

Interment was made in the church cemetery.
