Scott, Helen (Marriage - 19 Dec. 1939)

Miss Helen Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Scott of Oshkosh, became the bride of Clark Byse, son of Charles Byse of this city, in a charmingly simple ceremony at 10 o’clock December 19, at Oshkosh. The couple exchanged vows at the parsonage of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Rev. F. M. McKeough officiating in the presence of the immediate families.

The bride was attired in a royal blue velvet afternoon gown, with matching accessories, and had a single white orchid. Miss Grace Byse, sister of the bride-groom, attended the couple as bridesmaid in a light blue frock with wine accessories and corsage bouquet of gardenias. Spencer Scott, brother of the bride, was best man.

Both young people were graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Mrs. Byse from the school of education in 1937 and Mr. Byse from the law school in 1938. While at the university Mrs. Byse was awarded the Vilas medical for her intercollegiate debating and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Sigma Rho. At present she is teaching at East high school in Madison. Mr. Byse was editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Law Review, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. After graduation he attended the Columbia University School of law as a university fellow and received a master of laws degree in June, 1939.

The couple will be at home after February 10, at Iowa City, Iowa, where Mr. Byse is a member of the faculty of the University Of Iowa College of law.

After spending several days visiting at the Charles Byse home, the couple left for Chicago where Mr. Byse will attend a convention pertaining to law work.
