Wehrman, Wilfred W. (7 MAY 1932 - 24 OCT 2006)

Wilfred W. "Willie" Wehrman, 74, Loyal, died at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harvey Degenhardt, Tom Brussow, Walt Seeger, Clarence Henchen, Frank Zingen and Joey Hoops.

Wilfred Wilbur Wehrman was born on May 7, 1932, in the town of Beaver, to William and Martha (nee Lemke) Wehrman. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Maple Center School. After completing his schooling, he held various jobs until induction into the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict from Dec. 12, 1952, until his honorable discharge on Dec. 11, 1954. He married Beverly Swim in 1953. They later divorced. He moved back to Loyal in 1955, and began working at Colby Packaging. On Oct. 7, 1960, he married Marcella Castner in Neillsville, Wis. He continued to work at Colby Packaging and also began working at Northern Elevator on 1970. His wife, Marcella, died on Nov. 26, 1988. He married Beverly Thorson at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, on April 30, 1994. He retired from Colby Packaging in 1997. He held several jobs after his retirement, including being sexton of the Loyal Cemetery and every spring he worked for Northern Elevator. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal American Legion Post 175, 40 & 8 Group, and was a volunteer fireman on the Loyal Fire Department from the late 1960s until the mid-1980s. He had many interests, but especially loved fishing, camping, playing cards, and cutting firewood.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly, Loyal; seven children, Janet (Frank) Zingen, Homer Glen, Ill., Charlotte Hoops, Rockford, Ill., Leonard (Ronda) Wehrman, Loyal, Mary (Doug) Wahl, Madison, Susan (Timothy) Strebe, Marshfield, Tom (Sharlene) Wehrman, Spencer, and Steve (Kris) Wehrman, Chili; five stepchildren, Debbie (Mark) Gungor, Stevens Point, Randy (Lynn) Stabnow, Greenwood, Galen (special friend Avis Miles) Thorson, Arcadia, Valerie Lake, West Allis, and Mark (Yvette) Thorson, Stanley; 12 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Victor (Mary) Wehrman, Jamestown, Tenn., and Dale (Joan) Wehrman, Greenfield; three sisters, Alice (Gerald) Kobiske, Loyal, Agnes LaBarge, Arpin, and Elaine Gabrovic, Conrath; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Marcella; seven brothers, Ray, Don, Harvey, Herbert, and two in infancy; and his daughter, June.

Memorials may be given to the Clark County Food Pantry or Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
