Fischer, Fred William (13 June 1864 - 9 Nov. 1939)

Fred William Fischer, 75, of 179 North Prospect Street, Neillsville, passed away at the Vinton Nursing home at 8 p.m. November 9, after an illness of four months.

Mr. Fischer was born in Washington County, June 13, 1864, to Mr. and Mrs. William Fischer.

January 28, 1891, he was married to Elizabeth Peters at West Bend, coming to Clark County in 1907. They settled in the town of Worden where they purchased a partially improved farm, later adding more land to these acres. Mr. Fischer was a good farmer and an aggressive citizen. For several years he served as treasurer of the school board in his township and as director of the Big-4 Canning factory at Stanley.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fischer: Leo and Anton Fischer, Thorp; Charles Fischer, Neillsville; Mrs. John Van Hulst and Mrs. Peter Van Dinter of Little Chute. He is survived by the children and the following brothers and sisters: William Fischer of Antigo; Mrs. Louis Buelke, Mrs. Jeanette Pfrang, Mrs. Kate Meyer, Mrs. Mary Brehm, 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Van Dinter and Mrs. John Van Hurst, Little Chute; William Fischer, Laura Mae Arendsen, and Robert Arendsen, Antigo; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Fischer, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmidt, Thorp; Henry Peters, Frank Peters, Alphonse Peters and Mrs. Charles Spaeth, West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schmidt, Hollandtown, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Heideman and family of Green Bay, and Henry Fischer, Beloit.

Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Schiller Funeral Home, Rev. J. A. Biegler officiating, Interment taking place at St. Bernard’s cemetery, Thorp.

The pallbearers were Anton Baldeschwiler, George Haas, Anton Velcheck, Emil Henke, Walter W. Verkuilen and Fred Schmidt.
