Fillipp, Nestor (1872 - 24 SEP 1935)

Nestor Fillip, 62, residing one mile east of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the hospital at Chippewa Falls Tuesday morning, at which place he had been taken the afternoon before, suffering with injuries received from an automobile accident.

Mr. Fillipp was driving along the highway just west of the intersection of highways 73 and 29, at Withee, when he lost control of his car, while another automobile was attempting to pass him. His car went to the ditch and in doing so he fell from his roadster, receiving internal injuries and a fractured pelvic bone. He was taken immediately to the hospital at Chippewa Falls, where upon examination he was found to be injured internally and his condition very grave.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Finnish Lutheran Church, the Rev. Carl Tamminen of Duluth officiating, and burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery.

Those left to mourn are six sons and one daughter. A daughter preceded him in death about five years ago, she being instantly killed when struck by an automobile in front of her home.

Nestor Fillipp, 62, died at the Chippewa Falls Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born in Finland and came to this county in 1890, located at Wakefield, Mich., where he farmed and was employed until 1912, when he moved to Longwood, Clark Co. He sold his farm there and moved to Owen, where he operated the bottling works for two years.

In 1924 he bought a farm in the town of Green Grove, where he resided up to the time of his death. His wife, one son and one daughter, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were Friday, Rev. Powell officiating at the home and Rev. Kuusiko of Minneapolis conducted the services at the Finnish Lutheran Church.

Those left to mourn his untimely death, are one daughter, Mrs. Selma Baldwin; six sons, Vern, Uno, Harold, William Richard and Orville.

Those from out of town here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A. Holt of Eau Claire, Peter and Walter Mengel of Jump River, Mr. and Mrs. Noukki and family of Westboro.
