Joyce Steevens

Joyce Steevens, 72, Dorchester, died Monday, Nov 6, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, Dorchester, Wis. Burial was in North Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Everhard presided. Her grandchildren and nephew served as pallbearers.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home, Dorchester, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce was born June 6, 1934, in the Town of Mayville to Paul and Hattie (Grabowski) Tischendorf.

She and Marvin Steevens were married Oct 13, 1951, at Peace United Church of Christ, Dorchester, Wis. They farmed in the Town of Mayville, drove for Comfort Carriers and she worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Dorchester and Colby Elementary Schools.

Joyce was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Peace Church Evening Circle and presently the president of Dorchester Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; three children, Mark (Patricia) Steevens, Marshfield, Debbie (Rodney) Romens, Dorchester and Kevin (Lisa) Steevens, Dorchester; seven grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Alice) Tischendorf, Rhinelander; and one sister, Fern Hargraves, Abbotsford, Wis.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Tischendorf and one sister, Delores Frey.
