Lange, Henry (17 Dec. 1840 - 25 Dec. 1924)

Henry Lang was born in Hanover, Germany, Dec. 17, 1840. There he grew to manhood, and in 1862, he was married to Miss Mary Shidleman, to whose union was born eight children, three of whom are deceased.

They came to America in 1871, settling on a farm near La Crosse, where they remained for about twenty five years. They then moved onto a farm a mile north of Alma Center, where they lived for a number of years. They retired from the task of country work and moved to Altoona to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Mary Billerbeck.

For the past five or six years they have made their home with their son, Lewis, just east of Humbird, until his death on Dec. 25, 1924, at the advanced age of 84 years, and 8 days.

Mr. Lang is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Sophia Holverson, of Bangor, and Mrs. Mary Billerbeck, of Altoona; and three sons, John, of Altoona, William, of Bentley, North Dakota, and Lewis, of Humbird.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the home, Rev. John Wilcox preaching the burial sermon, and the remains were laid at rest in the Houghtonburg cemetery.

Relatives from away here in attendance at the funeral were his son and daughter and their families from Altoona. The daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Halvorson, of Bangor, was unable to be present on account of illness in her family.
