Mathwig, Loiree E. (4 SEP 1937)

Baskets of variegated garden flowers, potted plants and large vases filled with white and pink gladiolas and lighted tapers before a beautiful white arch covered with yellow roses formed a lovely setting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mathwig, Loyal, for the wedding of their daughter Loiree Elnora and Marvin A. Christman, Hartford, Hartford, Wis., son of Mrs. Lozetta Christman, Loyal.

The double ring ceremony was used by the Rev. W. Gamb, Veefkind, at 7 o’clock Saturday evening, Sept. 4th.

The bride looked charming in her gown of white satin, jacket effect with corded puffed sleeves tapering to a point over the hand; a crown effect head dress trimmed with seed pearls and orange blossoms and a long tulle veil lace trimmed which fell en train. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of pink bridal roses, babies breath, swansonia and ferns.

The bridal couple was attended by Miss Esther Schultz, Spencer, as maid of honor, very prettily gowned in blue taffeta, with wrist bouquet of pink roses, babies breath, ferns and blue ribbon. Miss Lucille Schlinsog, bridesmaid, cousin of the groom, Granton, was also prettily gowned in yellow taffeta, wrist bouquet of pink roses, babies breat, ferns and yellow ribbon, both wearing gold colored head bands.

The groom was attended by Stanley Mathwig as best man, brother of the bride, and Milton Christman, brother of the groom. The groom wore a tailored suit of dark blue material, his attendants wearing oxford gray.

A solo "I Love You Truly" was sung by Isabelle and Rhoda Buse, Spencer. Miss Rhoda with the violin accompanied on the piano by her sister, Miss Isabelle, also played the wedding march which aided greatly in beautifying the services. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Covers were layed for 50 guests, relatives and intimate friends at a 7:30 dinner The bride’s table was adorned with a beautiful pink and white wedding cake as a gift from her aunt. Both the living and dining room were decorated with white, blue and yellow streamers predominating. Table waitresses were the Misses Luella young, Helen Anderson, Lorraine Gotter and Mrs. Isabelle Keach.

The bride’s mother wore a gown of sheer tan crepe trimmed with silver clips and buttons. The groom’s mother wore a blue flowered sheer crepe trimmed with silver buttons and clips. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Emma Boughton wore a navy blue sheer crepe trimmed with white and silver.

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School of 1931 and of the teacher’s state college, Stevens Point and has taught several terms in this vicinity. The groom is employed at the Central Chevrolet Sales Co., Hartford, Wis.

After a short honeymoon they will be at home to their many friends at 302 North Ave., Hartford, Wis.

The happy young couple were the recipients of many useful and beautiful presents both at the wedding and several showers that were given in their honor at recent dates, and the best wishes of their many friends go with them for a long and happy journey on the matrimonial sea.
