Schoenherr, Erich Christian Frederick Gotthelf (10 March 1865 - 13 May 1939)

Erich Christian Frederick Gotthelf Schoenherr was born at Zatten, Buchthal, Germany, March 10, 1865. He passed away May 13, at the age of 74 years, two months and three days after a long illness.

He was baptized and confirmed in his native country and came to America in 1882 at the age of 17.

On April 6, 1889, he was married to Emma Schlinkert. They settled on a farm in Weston Township where they had always made their home. Nine children were born to them, two of whom, Ferdinand and Helen, are deceased. Surviving are his wife and seven children: Elfrieda, Mrs. Herman Dux, of Globe; Lilly, Mrs. Edward Kroll, York; Kurt, Columbia; Grace, Mrs. Leland Northup, Globe; Herbert and Karl, at home, and Matilde of Sheboygan. Two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mitte and Mrs. Ottile Lueck, Weston, also survive.

Mr. Schoenherr was one of the pioneers who cleared land in a wilderness and built for himself and family a farm and home. His ambition receding only when his health failed.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 and at Globe Lutheran Church later, Rev. W. Motzkus officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Hagedorn, Richard Hagedorn, Edward Kalsow, Theodore Kalsow, Ferdinand Grap and Gustave Grap. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Ervin, William and Eileene Kroll, Louis and Gladys Dux, Forest Northup and Walter Schoenherr, grandchildren of the deceased were flower bearers.
