Sergeant H. H. Keuhling and C. J. Vogt arrived home Tuesday from Manilla. They enlisted in Troop "G" 14th Calvy. U. S. Regulars on March 22nd 1901 and were stationed at Fort Wingate, New Mexico until the fall of 1903 when they were ordered to the Islands where they did post duty until Feb 15th when, owing to the fact the term of their enlistment would expire on March 28th 1904 they were ordered to return to the U. S.

They started from Manilla Feb 15th arrived at Nagasaki, Japan on Feb 21st where they remained until Feb 24 when they steamed for Honolulu, arriving there March 10, after taking on mail they departed the same evening for "Frisco" arrived there March 14th and landed on Angel Island the same day, they remained there until March 25 when they were discharged and they immediately started for home via Ogden, Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha, and Minneapolis arriving here at 8:37 a. m. Tuesday, quite unexpectedly but none the less welcome.

The boys have attended an excellent school during the past three years and the valuable lessons taught them during their army career will be a great help to them in life.

Their exemplary habits, strict adherence to duty and their active and cheerful dispositions gained for them a warm place in the hearts of the officers and members of the troop and was responsible for their early promotion to Corporal and later to that of Sergeant which they held at the time of their discharge.

They brough home many relics from the Phillipines Island which we hope they may be able to show to their great-great grandchildren and tell them of the interesting events which occurred when the United States was attempting to civilize the blood-thirsty Phillipino toadeaters.
