Turner, Robert (December 25, 1947 - May 1, 2004)

Robert Turner, age 56, of Thorp, died on Saturday, May 1, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI Pastor James Leschensky will officiate with burial to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Stanley, WI. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 pm. at the Funeral Chapel on Wednesday.

Robert was born December 25, 1947 in Waukegan, IL, the son of John and Amelia (Narrod) Turner. He grew up in the Town of Colburn and attended area schools. He then served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Joan Almberg at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in 1974 and they resided in the Town of Colburn, farming there until moving to Thorp, WI in 1994 where he worked at the August Lotz Co., Sapata Cheese and then Marathon Cheese. Bob enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with his friends and relatives and liked going to the casinos. He also enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved his deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife Joan, of Thorp, WI; and two sons: Jesse and special friend Misty of Spearfish, SD and Jeremy of Eau Claire, WI and one grandson Damon; two brothers: John Jr. of Boulder Junction, WI and Gerald (Leona) Turner of Stanley, WI and one sister Sandra (Chester) Meeker of Stanley, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Amelia Turner and mother-in-law, Wilma Almberg.

Thorp American Legion Cecil Tormey Post #118 will be performing Military Graveside Rites.
