Smith, Eileen (June 20, 1918 - January 2, 2004)

Eileen Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully at the Clark County Health Center in Owen, WI on January 2, 2004. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Westfield Cemetery, Westfield.

Eileen was born June 20, 1918 in Carter, WI, the daughter of Lester and Rachel (Fagan) Rabbitt. Her parents died at an early age, at which time through the help of the church, her family was taken into a foster home by David and Nellie McDowell of Montello, WI. Eileen was united in marriage to Gordon Smith on April 2, 1938. They lived and farmed in Westfield until 1951 and then moved to Edgar. In 1968 they moved to Thorp where she resided until December 16, 2003.

Eileen is survived by her husband Gordon of 65 years; four daughters: Becky (Norm) Meyer of Boyd, WI, Sharon (Keri) Hamann of Wausau, WI, Sally (Mark) Koltis of Thorp, WI and Tami (Bob) Rogus of Thorp, WI, the love of her life, seven grandchildren; two step-grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. She was looking forward to her granddaughter’s birth of twin boys in February. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Lois) Rabbitt of Milledgeville, IL; two brother-in-laws, Ernest Urban of Cross Plains, WI, Harold Wiliamson of Montello, WI and sister-in-law Ardith McDowell of Montello, WI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; Kathleen and Peggy; her sister Evelyn Clora and brother Ted; her foster parents and a Foster brother Don McDowell and foster sister Vera Miller.

She was the best cook and baker and always had fresh goodies for anyone that would stop by. Eileen’s #1 love of her life was her family. Even though the Lord has called her home, the love and laughter she brought will always remain true to our hearts.

Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
