Rycerz, Adolph J. (June 14, 1918 - October 18, 2004)

Adolph J. Rycerz, age 86, of Thorp, died in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, on Monday, October 18, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Donald Wilger will officiate and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at church, on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Adolph J. Rycerz was born on June 14, 1918 in Michigan, the son of Martin and Anna (Piekarz) Rycerz. As a young boy, his family moved to Thorp where Adolph was raised on the family farm and received his education. On May 29, 1943, Adolph was united in marriage to Irene Wincek at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. He farmed in the Town of Withee until his retirement and resided there until his death. Adolph was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Irene of Thorp; his children: Robert (Barbara) of Milwaukee; Barbara Rycerz of Thorp; Alan of Thorp; John (Debra) of Greenfield; Roger of Thorp; Kathleen Rycerz of Thorp; Ron of Thorp; David of Gilman; William of Thorp; Mary Ann Oberle of Sheboygan; and Eugene (Sherri) of Green Bay; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Walter; and two sisters; Helen Czerwinski and Bernice Fahl.
