Leo Lindner

Leo E. Lindner, 71, of Eau Claire died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born Oct. 4, 1935, in the Town of Levis, Rural Clark County, the son of Otto and Barbara (Neidermayer) Lindner. He graduated from Neillsville High School.

Leo served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. Following his discharge he worked construction in Neillsville, Wis.

On Nov. 14, 1964, Leo married Betty Jane Marden in Neillsville, Wis. They moved to Eau Claire and raised three children. Leo worked as a construction laborer through the Laborers Local 268 in Eau Claire, retiring in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Jane; three children, David (Katharine) of Neillsville, Dana (Darwin) Balts of Eau Claire and Derek (Sheryl) of Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Rodin, Corey (Bridget) Balts, Ashley Balts, Rebecca (John Johnson) Lindner, Jacob Lindner, Stephanie Lindner, Shannon Lindner and Trent Lindner; two great-grandchildren, Kylia and Blake Johnson; two sisters, Leta Margl of Little Canada, Minn., and Edith (Thomas) Nauertz of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Gene Huth of Granton, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna; and a brother-in-law, Joe Margl.

Private family services will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at First Lutheran Chapel with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
