Hodd, Cecil A. (31 Jul 1923 - 26 Aug 2006)

Cecil A. Hodd, 83, Colby, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield.

Cecil was born July 31, 1923, in Withee to Jay and Olive (Hilden) Bogue. Cecil and Robert Hodd were married June 30, 1940, in Withee. He died April 24, 2003.

They farmed in the town of Hoard before moving to Abbotsford in 1948. They built the Abby Theatre in Abbotsford in 1948 and opened it in 1949. In 1969 they built the 13-29 Drive-In Theatre and opened it in 1970. In 1982 they sold the theaters to their son Dave.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Cecil enjoyed fishing and their cabin on Butternut Lake in Park Falls.

Cecil is survived by her children, June (Gerald) Johnson, Medford, Carol (Alvin) Rabehl, Kaukauna, Janet (Tom) Kieffer, Loyal, and David Hodd, Colby; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Edna Koplitz, Abbotsford, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; two sons, Jerry in 1969 and Robert Jr. in 1952; one brother, Harold Bogue; and one sister, Leota Gurber.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford, Wis. Burial was in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Reverend Leroy Haynes presided.

Pallbearers were Lucas Northway, Jerry Rabehl, Wayne Johnson, Robert Kieffer, Mark Weber, and Allen Leu. The organist was Sheila Koplitz and the vocalists were Gary and Rochelle Schultz.

Visitation was from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Maurina Funeral Home Abbotsford and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
