SPENCER -- Ione Luepke, 85, of Spencer, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. Karl Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Community Funeral Home, Spencer and from noon to service time Wednesday at the church.

Ione was born April 14, 1921, in Spencer to John F. and Laura (Cramer) Neidlein. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1938 and then attended the Milwaukee Accredited Beauty School in Eau Claire, graduating in 1939. She worked at the Keller Beauty Shoppe in Neillsville for a few years and then she was employed at the Spencer Post Office until her marriage on Sept. 15, 1945, to Arnold Luepke. He preceded her in death. She later worked at the Spencer IGA until her retirement.

Ione was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, an active member of Trinity Ladies Aid and Trinity Ladies Guild, having served several offices in both. She also was a charter member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, LLL, and taught Sunday School for 40 years.

After her retirement she enjoyed spending time at her cottage up north and taking trips to Hawaii, Florida, Nevada, Washington, New York, the Yukon, Canada and Alaska.

Ione was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Terry (Mary) Luepke of Marshfield and Ronald (Nancy) Luepke of Spencer; one daughter, Kay Luepke of Spencer; three grandsons, Randy (Christine) Luepke of Marshfield, Chris (Regina) Luepke of Austin, Texas, and Jon (Jennifer) Luepke of Marshfield; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Lin, Hunter, and Natalie Jo Luepke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; and one brother, Ted Neidlein.
