Winter, David Frank (17 Oct. 1857 - 1905)

David Frank Winter

On Tuesday morning the people of Unity were shocked to hear that during Monday night the grim reaper Death had visited our midst and taken there from one of our respected citizens.

After an illness lasting but one week during which time, until a few hours before his death his condition was not considered dangerous. D. Frank Winter was summoned to the "great beyond."

About a week before the final summons came, he was confined to the house with the Lagrippe, he was unable to retain any nourishment and grew gradually weaker until late Monday night, when he realized the end was near, summoning his family he informed them that he would with them but a short time, advised them about some business matters and at 11:50 p.m. after bidding them a last farewell, peacefully sunk into his last long rest.

D. F. Winter was born Oct 17, 1857 at Owasco, Cayuga Co., New York. When 16 years of age he came to Wisconsin residing at Black River Falls, and other points until 1886 when he came to Unity where he has since made his home.

On Jan. 11, 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Addie Ingalls of this village (Unity) To this union two children were born, Fanny age 16 and Grover age 13 who with mother mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church on Thursday Feb. 9 at 1 p.m., Rev. A. N. Conklin officiating. The acting pallbearers were Ralph Vaughan, H. J. Summer, Date Clark, S. F. Hause, C. Van Camp, and John Fry.

The funeral was largely attended by the people of Unity and vicinity who extend their sincere sympathy to the bereaved family in their great affliction.

Note - David Frank Winter is buried at Unity Township/Brighton Cemetery, Unity, Marathon Co, WI.
