Salter, Arthur M. (23 OCT 1896 - 4 MAY 1961)

Arthur M. Salter, 906 Cherry Ave., real estate dealer, suffered a fatal heart attack Saturday about 9 a.m. while trout fishing on Price Creek near Phillips with John Dohrn and S.J. Higgins, both of Marshfield. He was 64 years of age.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hansen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley C.F. Hayes, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home where the body is now reposing.

Mr. Salter was born Oct. 23, 1896, in Unity, Wis., where he attended elementary and high school, graduating from the latter in 1915. He also attended the University of Wisconsin for two years. In 1918 he entered the Army, serving with the Army Medical Corps in France and was discharge in 1919.

After World War I, he returned to Unity, where he farmed for the next 27 years. He came to Marshfield in 1946 and was associated with the Siewert’s Real Estate and Insurance Company of Wis. Rapids as a real estate salesman.

While living at Unity he had served on the village board and was a director of the Unity State Bank. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post.

His marriage to the former Ruby Misner, who survives him, took place at Colby in 1919.

Other survivors are a son, Wayne of Wautoma; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin C. (Vera) Vogt), St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Harvey (Elizabeth) Eby, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Marian Tschudy, Marshfield; and four grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
