Sparks, Laura Louisa (28 June 1873 - 12 March 1938)

Rites for Mrs. Jesse Sparks were conducted at the Sherwood Church Monday, Rev. D. J. Appleby officiating. Interment took place in the Sherwood cemetery.

Deceased passed away at her home Saturday morning after a stroke of paralysis.

Mr. and Mrs. Sparks had lived in that community since their marriage 48 years ago.

She is survived by her husband and five children, eight grandchildren, a brother and two sisters, one daughter having preceded her in death.

Saturday morning, March 12, the soul of Mrs. Jesse Sparks left its earthly tenement at her home in Sherwood, and passed into that higher life beyond. She died of a heart attack.

Deceased was born to Laura Louisa Messing in Almond, Portage County, Wisconsin, on June 28th, 1873.

She was married to Jesse Sparks on April 21st, 1892, in the home where she resided the rest of her days.

She is survived by her husband, and five children, namely:

Hattie, Mrs. Reuben Fields; Edith, Mrs. Bert Todd; Helen and Hazel all of Sherwood, and a son, Daniel. Another daughter, Esther, Mrs. Alfred Anderson, having preceded her in death 14 years ago.

She leaves eight grandchildren: Wilbur and Alfred Fields, Mildred, Elaine, Robert, Russell, Maxine and Rebecca Todd.

She also leaves two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Julia Sparks of Hood River, Oregon, Mrs. Adolph Clement of Sidney, Montana, and Elery Messing of Sherwood.

Deceased, in her youthful days early sought a Christian life and has ever since been a true, loving Christian woman. Her steadfast adherence to highest ideals made her life an example and her memory cherished. She kept an abiding faith in the promises of life beyond the grave, which remained unshaken until the end.
