Kobs, Dorothea H. (18 DEC 1830 - 3 FEB 1917)

Mrs. Dorothea Henrietta Kobs died of old age, Saturday morning, Feb. 3, 1917, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. Bleichroth, aged 86 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Dorothea Ristow was born in Grumsdorf, Pommern, Germany, Dec. 18, 1830. She was married to Carl Kobs in Oct. 1854. In 1863 they came to this country and settled in Milwaukee Co. Thirteen years later, 1876, they came to Clark Co., and made their home in the town of Colby. After living on the farm for twenty-eight years, they moved to this city. In Oct. 1904, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Her husband died Nov. 9, 1905, and since then she has made her home with her daughter.

To this union were born nine children: Carl and August, deceased; Albert, Julius and Mrs. T. Bleichroth, of this city; Herman of Unity; Henry of Milwaukee; Fred and Mrs. F. Grambort of this city. She is also survived by forty-five grandchildren. The funeral was held from Zion’s Lutheran Church, Tuesday, Feb 6, 1917. Rev. C.C. Hartenstein officiating. Interment in Colby Cemetery.
