Nemec, George A. (8 JUL 1918 - 13 JUN 2006)

George A. Nemec, 87, Marshfield, formerly of Spencer, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. Karl Roese officiated. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer. Pallbearers were his six grandchildren, Jason Nemec, Joshua Nemec, Benjamin Nemec, Stacy Loew, Andrea Wiese, and Jessica Nemec. Honorary pallbearer was Tanya Rand, who came to take him home.

George Anton Nemec was born July 8, 1918, in Mosinee, to Frank and Mary (Wachuta) Nemec. He attended Liberty School in Mosinee. As a young man, he worked in the Knowlton area in the potato fields. At the age of 17, he started working for the Thorton Green Farm in the town of McMillan. He married Lucille Kloehn on Nov. 1, 1941, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, town of McMillan. In 1950, they moved to their own farm in the town of Brighton, northeast of Spencer. They retired in 1989 and moved to the Pier Willow area to enjoy the life if fishing, God’s nature, and their grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pier Willow Sportsman’s Club, and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Marshfield; his children, Carol (Howard) Rand, Marshfield, Karl (Jan) Nemec, Loyal, and Keith (Donna) Nemec, Spencer; his grandchildren, Stacy (Russ) Nemec Loew, Andrea (Randy) Wiese, Jessica (Erick Sazama) Nemec, Benjamin (Jenny Nikola Nemec, Jason (Sarah Abegglen) Nemec, and Joshua Nemec; his great-grandchildren, Devin and Sierra Loew, and Megan Wiese; two sisters, Rose Zell, Mosinee, and Mary Nesbitt, Mounee.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Tom and Frank; and his granddaughter, Tanya Rand.

Community Funeral Home, West Allis, assisted the family with arrangements.
