Provinske, John (11 MAR 1858 - 21 MAR 1915)

The death of Mr. John Provinske of Colby occurred on Sunday morning March 21st, after an illness of seven weeks at the age of 57 years and 10 days.

The deceased was born in the city of Sheboygan on Mar. 11th, 1858 and came to Colby in 1878 where he settled on a farm in the town of Hull, Marathon Co.

On Nov. 13th, 1881 he was married in the town of Hull to Anna Aderhold of Plymouth, Wis., to which union were born nine children, eight of whom survive. Here he resided until July 1914 when he sold the farm and came to the city.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, beginning with a private service at the home for the immediate family and relatives.

At one o’clock the remains were taken to St. John’s Evangelical Church where the final service was conducted, Rev. R.R. Braddick, assisted by Rev. Calvart of Abbotsford, Wis. Burial at Colby Cemetery.

There are left to mourn his loss, besides his widow, eight children: Ida of Port Washington, Wis., William of St. Paul, Minn., Elsie of Milwaukee, Anna of Minneapolis, Mrs. Gustav Brehm of Unity, Edna of Madison, Joseph and Irma of this city. Also two grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Provinske was widely known and beloved in this vicinity and his many friends deeply regret his death.

"Grant unto him eternal rest, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him."
