Eggebrecht, Carl (23 NOV 1830 - 28 JUL 1914)

Carl Eggebrecht passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, July 28th, 1914, aged 83 years, 8 months and 5 days.

Carl Eggebrecht was born in Prepsleben, Germany, Nov 23rd, 1830; was married to Frederica Granzow, Oct 2nd, 1855, and six years later, Oct. 13th, 1861, came to America with his family, settling in Wayne Co., Mich., where he continued to reside until he spring of 1884, when he came to Colby and settled on a farm in the town of Hull, Marathon Co. His wife died Oct. 25th, 1905, since which time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Meier. They sold their farm about five years ago and have since resided in the city. He held the position of chairman of the town of Hull several terms and worked for the best interests of the town. Owing to an injury received when a young man, he was compelled to use a cane and crutch most of the time. The past four years he has been confined to the house and most of the time to his bed. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He is survived by seven children, William of Marshfield, Mrs. Wm. Meier of Colby; Harry, town of Hull; Mrs. Jos. Bondie of Taylor, Mich.; Mrs. Gusta Wicker of Medford; Charles of Park Falls; Mrs. Murphy McHugh of Clintonville. Also by two brothers, William and Ernst of Milwaukee, and many grandchildren and other relatives.

The funeral will be held from St. John’s Ev. German Church, Friday afternoon, at 1:30 o’clock, Rev. M. Lienk officiating. Interment in Colby Cemetery.
