Laabs, Herman (9 AUG 1839 - 4 MAY 1914)

Herman Laabs, one of the early settlers in the town of Green Grove, took his own life, Monday morning, at the home of son, F.W., in Curtiss, by shooting himself in the head. Mr. Laabs has been a widower the past twenty odd years, and the past few years has made his home with his sons, at Curtiss and Unity. He was highly respected by all who knew him and his rash act was a shock to his relatives and friends. He was in his 75th year. The funeral was held at Green Grove, Wednesday afternoon.
