Naedler, Henry J. (24 September 1889 - 22 May 1975)

A former Neillsville mayor, city engineer and second ward alderman, Henry J. Naedler of 309 East Fourth St., died Thursday, May 22, at the age of 85. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad of Zion American Lutheran churches officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Henry Naedler, son of William and Margaret Geyer Naedler, was born September 24, 1889, at Jefferson and came to the Neillsville area while still a young child. He was educated in local schools. Upon completing his education, he built and operated the former Naedler garage located on East Sixth St. in Neillsville.

Mr. Naedler served in the armed forces during World War I, entering military service on June 14, 1918, at Neillsville and receiving his discharge on January 2, 1919, at Washington, D.C. After returning to Neillsville, he operated the garage until 1938. Mr. Naedler, who retired several years ago because of failing health, was a member of Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post No. 73.

His marriage to the former Anna Koelpin, who survives, took place June 21, 1917, at Vandyne. Mrs. Naedler’s brother, the Rev. Arnold Koelpin, performed the ceremony.

Other survivors include two children, Harold Naedler of Neillsville and Henry W. Naedler, Jr., of Milwaukee; two brothers, Hilbert Naedler of Neillsville and William Naedler, Sr., of Granton ; and two grandchildren.
