Wahl, Ruth (Marriage - 30 June 1937)

The marriage of Miss Ruth Wahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wahl of Neillsville, and George White, a teacher employed in the Granton High School, took place at 9 a.m., June 30 at St. Mary’s Church, Rev. Father Meyer performing the ring ceremony. A large number of relatives and friends witnessed the service.

Attending the bride were Miss Marjorie White, Minneapolis, sister-in-law of the groom, as maid of honor and Bartlett Jackson, of New Richmond, a close friend of the groom. The bride’s hand was given in marriage by her father. The choir sang several numbers with Mrs. Arthur Wagner accompanying, Ralph and Pat White, brothers of the groom were ushers.

The bride graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1926 and the Whitewater State Teachers college in 1929. She has been employed as at teacher in the high school at Chippewa Falls. She is a young lady of excellent character and spoken highly of as a teacher. The groom, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter White of Minong, Wis., is highly regarded by all who know him.

The bride was dressed in white satin with train and long tulle veil, corsage bouquet of pink roses and lilies of the valley. The maid of honor wore white mousilene de soie and carried sweet peas and white larkspur.

A wedding breakfast was served to 50 guests at the home of the bride’s parents. The table was very pretty with decorations of pink and green bouquets.

The bride’s cake was of an unusual design. It formed a cross 24 inches across, with a square tower in the center. It was beautifully decorated with scrolls and flowers of icing and bright artificial flowers. Besides singing in the choir, Mrs. Sanders, sister of the groom of California, and Honolulu, sang in the home between the first and second courses, during reception. Her song was, "I Love You Truly."

The couple left on a honeymoon trip to Northern Wisconsin and expected to be at home at Minneapolis after July 6.

Out of town guests were Mrs. E. T. Burdick of Milwaukee, Mrs. F. T. Aguilu, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph White, Mr. Pate White, Dr. and Mrs. F. Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Murphy, all of Minneapolis; Mrs. Peter White of Minong, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ule White, of Nelson, Wis., Mrs. A. C. Sanders of Honolulu and California, Mrs. Richard Hemp of Mosinee, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wahl of Chicago, Mrs. Walter Haupt of Wittenburg, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. B. Jackson of New Richmond, Wis., Mrs. Molly Mahl, and Miss Eleanor Wahl of Eland, Wis.

Mrs. E. T. Burdick of Milwaukee who had been visiting her sister, Mrs. E. G. Wahl and family, left for home Saturday.
