Spiegelberg, Mabel L. (24 Nov. 1883 - 1937)

Believed to have been trampled by a bull or kicked by a horse, the body of Mrs. Otto Spiegelberg, Chili, was found in the barn about 3 p.m. Tuesday by her husband when he returned with his son, Robert, from the fields where they had been working. Dr. M. Overman of Granton was called and found Mrs. Spiegelberg had suffered a fractured skull and broken neck, it was reported.

Mr. Spiegelberg stated he found the bull loose when he entered the barn. It was his opinion that his wife had gone to the barn to tie up the bull and was attacked by the animal, or she may have been kicked by a horse which stood near where her body was found lying in the gutter.

Mrs. Spiegelberg was born Nov. 24, 1883 at Neenah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rogers. In 1901 she married to Otto Spiegelberg at Bay Boom near Neenah, and in 1901 they moved to their farm near Chili. Two children, Robert, 15 years old, and Phyllis, Mrs. Charles Koller of Junction City, were born to this union.

Mrs. Spiegelberg was a woman of many fine attributes, a devoted mother and homemaker, and a faithful member of her church. Surviving besides her husband and children are a sister, Mrs. Grace Lewis of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Perley Rogers, Orno, Maine, Frank Rogers, New Boston, New Hampshire, and a half-brother, John Davis, Bangor, Maine.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from St. Stevens Catholic Church at Chili, Rev. Arthur Cramer, officiating.
