St. John, Victor Ray (November 25, 1912 - October 10, 2005)

Victor St. John, age 92, of Neillsville, died Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville, Wis.

Victor Ray St. John was born on November 25, 1912, in Brodhead, to George William and Dana Sophia (Gillette) St. John. He attended Brodhead Schools and graduated in 1931. In 1934 he was married to LaVerna Lydia Quade and soon relocated to Janesville, and was employed by the Jaeger Baking Co. He later worked at the Fairbanks & Morse Co. and moved to Beloit. In 1945, he and his family bought the Alvin Krause farm in Washburn Township. He farmed until 1955 and then was a Real Estate Broker for United Farm Agency and retired in 1983. LaVerna died in 1982, and in 1983 Victor was re-married to Hazel Williams. He has since lived in Neillsville, Wis.

Victor is survived by his present wife, Hazel Williams St. John, of Neillsville; one son, George "Bill" (Macel) St. John of Salem; one daughter, Mildred "Dolly" St. John-Lloyd-Bailey of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; five step-children, Sharon Brock of Oak Park, IL; Jean Vandeberg of Hatfield; Wendell Williams of Granton; and Marvin Williams of Turtle Lake; and many step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverna in 1982; four brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, Wis.

Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Brodhead. Newcomer Funeral Home of Brodhead is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
