Lear, Maude Birdell (25 July 1880 - 12? Oct. 1936)

Mrs. Fred A. Lear of the town of Weston, who had been ill for the past eight months, died at her home at 8 a.m. Monday, aged 56 years. The funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Schiller’s funeral home by the Ladies of the Moose with Rev. G. W. Longenecker opening the rites with a prayer. Burial will be at Berlin, Wis. formerly the home, of Mr. and Mrs. Lear.

Mrs. Lear was born to Maude Birdell Bailey at Auroraville, Wis., July 25, 1880, later moving to Berlin where she married Nov. 4, 1909 to Mr. Lear. In 1922 they came to Clark County, establishing themselves on a farm in the Town of Weston.

Mrs. Lear was a woman of extraordinary personal charm, devoted to her husband and home, and beloved by an unusually large circle of warm friends. Although she never lived on a farm until she came to Clark County she rapidly adapted herself to farm life and took a deep interest in all phases of the work. She was particularly interested in the livestock and fowls, making pets of them and giving names to each. Mrs. Lear was a charter member of the Women of the Moose Lodge of Neillsville and was one of its most active and energetic workers.

Mrs. Lear is survived by her husband and a brother, Lant M. Bailey of Downers Grove, Ill.
