Weigert, Bessie (24 MAR 1888 - 31 DEC 1958)

NEILLSVILLE, Clark Co., Wis. - Funeral services for Mrs. William Weigert, 70, town of Foster, Clark Co., whose charred body was found in the ruins of her home early Wednesday, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bergemann Funeral Home. The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be made at Fairchild.

The charred body of Mrs. Weigert was found following a fire in her two-story farm home near Fairchild. Authorities suspect suicide as the cause of death. They said the firs apparently were started by Mrs. Weigert and that a rope was around her neck when the body was found. An autopsy report is expected to disclose the exact cause of death.

The former Bessie Schemerhorn was born March 24, 1888, in Jackson County. She received her education there and was married there to William Weigert on April 7, 1909. He died in February of 1956. For many years they had lived at Alma Center and in 1929 moved to a farm in the town of Foster.

The only survivors are distant relatives.
