Buss, Wilhelmine (5 APR 1837 - 23 JAN 1913)

Wilhelmine, wife of Karl Buss, died at her home in Green Grove, Clark County, Wis., on Thursday morning, Jan. 23rd, 1913, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Deceased was born in Germany, and in 1868 came to this country with her husband and children, settling in Dodge Co., Wis.

In 1871 the family moved to Clark County, settling in the west half of the town of Colby, now Green Grove, and were among the first settlers. Her sad an painful death was caused by a cancer in the face, resulting from the accidental loss of one eye many years ago. The cancer gradually grew larger and caused the loss of the other eye. She was totally blind for almost six months and confined to her bed nearly a whole year, thus making her long illness and death particularly sad.

She was a hard working lady, a kind neighbor and a good faithful Christian mother. Besides her husband, she leaves six children, eight grandchildren, three sisters and one brother, and a host of friends to mourn her loss.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church at Green Grove, Saturday afternoon, Rev. A. Behrendt officiating. She had chosen the text and songs for her burial. Interment took place in the Green Grove Cemetery.
