Marden, Emma Minnie Otillia (May 28, 1903-February 21, 2006)

Emma Marden, age 102, of Neillsville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 at 8:15 p.m. at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Emma Minnie Otillia Marden was born on May 28, 1903, the daughter of Herman and Emilie (Krueger) Gehrt in the Township of Pine Valley. She attended the Silver Crest School. After her schooling she moved to Milwaukee to work as a nanny for several years. She married Charles Marden on October 12, 1937. Together they farmed and raised their two daughters in the Town of Hewett. They retired and moved into Neillsville in 1968.

Emma is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane (Leo) Lindner of Eau Claire; and Jana Lee (Lowell Gesche) Marden of Neillsville; three grandchildren, David (Katharine) Lindner of Neillsville, Dana (Darwin) Balts of Eau Claire, and Derek (Sheryl) Lindner of Chippewa Falls; eight great grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Rodin, Corey (Bridget Dohms) Balts, Ashley Balts, Rebecca (John Johnson), Stephanie, Jacob, Shannon and Trent Lindner; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kylia and Blake Johnson. She is also survived by a niece, Agnes Hermeling, a niece-in-law Luella Mohr and Arvid Berger, all of Neillsville; and by several nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death, by her parents, her husband, Charles; two brothers, Otto and Willie Gehrt; and three sisters, Mary Mohr, Elsie Berger and Martha Gehrt; and nephews, Robert Berger, Albert and Ernest Mohr; and two great nieces, Eunice Artac and Lois Mendenhall.

Funeral services for Emma were held Saturday, February 25, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, at 213 Hill St. in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Gordon officiated and the music was provided by Tim and Jodi Rueth, vocalists, with Eileen Zank, organist accompanist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Serving as the Casket Bearers were David Lindner, Derek Lindner, Jacob Lindner, Darwin, Corey, and Ashley Balts.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted Emma’s family with the arrangements.
